What you see in the circle is what others will see
Almost every network stores the profile picture as a square and displays it cropped to a circle, so the corners are never seen. The circular mask in the preview reproduces that crop so you can frame your face without surprises. The file is saved as an 800 × 800 px square, more than enough for WhatsApp, Instagram, Discord, X, TikTok or LinkedIn (they all shrink it afterwards). With “Fill and crop” you can drag the photo and zoom in up to 4×.
Are my files uploaded?
No. ShiftAny Images processes your images directly on your device: this tool runs in your browser and never sends your files to any server.
Frequently asked questions
Why is it downloaded square and not round?
Because networks ask for a square image and apply the circle themselves. If you uploaded a round one with transparent corners, some apps would fill the corners with black or white.
What size does each network want?
WhatsApp, Instagram and Discord show the avatar at under 200 px, but store it larger for high-density screens. 800 × 800 covers them all with room to spare.
How do I center my face if it is off?
With “Fill and crop”, drag the photo in the preview and raise the zoom until your face fills the circle. You can also use the arrow keys on the preview.
