How to use “Instagram Story”
- Add one or more photos (landscape, portrait or square).
- Choose the “Framing”: blurred background, fill and crop, or plain background.
- Check the result in the vertical preview and drag the photo if you want to move it.
- Click “Create image” and download each Story or all of them in a ZIP.
A landscape photo in a Story, with nothing lost
Instagram shows Stories at 1080 × 1920 px (9:16). If you upload a landscape photo, the app enlarges it and cuts the sides or leaves empty bands. Here the photo is placed whole and centered on a 1080 × 1920 canvas, and the leftover space is filled with the same image enlarged, blurred (40 px) and darkened to 65 % so the photo stands out. With “Fill and crop” you can drag the preview to choose which part stays in and zoom closer. By default, the chosen framing applies to the whole batch.
Are my files uploaded?
No. ShiftAny Images processes your images directly on your device: this tool runs in your browser and never sends your files to any server.
Frequently asked questions
Which framing should I choose for a Story?
“Blurred background” shows the whole photo and fills the gap with the same image enlarged and softened: nothing is lost. “Fill and crop” covers the whole screen but trims the sides that do not fit. “Plain background” adds colored bars.
Why 1080 × 1920 and not bigger?
That is the resolution at which Instagram stores and shows Stories and Reels. Upload anything larger and the app shrinks and recompresses it; at 1080 × 1920 you stay in control of how it looks.
Does it work for WhatsApp Status or Facebook Stories?
Yes. WhatsApp Status and Facebook Stories use the same vertical 9:16 format.
How is this different from “TikTok and Shorts”?
The canvas is the same (1080 × 1920), but “TikTok and Shorts” adds a safe-zone guide: it marks the strips covered by TikTok’s buttons, username and caption so they do not hide what matters.
