- Your Drive or your device
- Your files travel straight between Google and your browser. They never touch a server of ours, because we don’t have any.
- Processing runs on your device, exactly as it does with a file from your computer.
- The app can only access the files you pick and the ones it saves to your Drive. Never the rest.
- Access expires after one hour and is never stored. This browser only remembers your name and email so you can reconnect in one click; you can disconnect at any time.

How to use “Remove Metadata”
- Add the photos you are about to share (JPG, PNG, WebP or iPhone HEIC).
- Click “Remove metadata”: they are all processed at once, with no settings to choose.
- Check each file’s note: it says what was removed, such as the GPS location or the camera model.
- Download each clean photo or all of them in a ZIP.
No recompression, orientation kept
For JPG, PNG and WebP the tool rewrites the file by copying the image data as is: the result is identical pixel for pixel and only the metadata blocks disappear (EXIF with the GPS location, date and camera, XMP, IPTC, comments and the images or data some phones hide after the photo). The color profile is kept so colors do not shift, and so is the orientation so the photo does not come out rotated. HEIC photos cannot be cleaned without recompressing: they are converted to JPG at quality 92, which stores no metadata.
Are my files uploaded?
No. ShiftAny Images processes your images directly on your device: this tool runs in your browser and never sends your files to any server.
Frequently asked questions
What can a photo reveal about me?
Phone photos usually store the exact coordinates where they were taken, the date and time, the phone model and sometimes the camera serial number or the owner’s name. To see them before deleting them, use “EXIF Viewer”.
Does the photo lose quality when cleaned?
Not in JPG, PNG or WebP: the image data is copied untouched, so the file only sheds what the metadata weighed. Only HEIC photos are re-encoded, as JPG.
Don’t WhatsApp and Instagram already remove metadata?
Many social networks strip it when you post, but not every service does: email, cloud storage, forums or WhatsApp when sending as a document keep the original file with its location.
