ShiftAny servers: none
  • Your files travel straight between Google and your browser. They never touch a server of ours, because we don’t have any.
  • Processing runs on your device, exactly as it does with a file from your computer.
  • The app can only access the files you pick and the ones it saves to your Drive. Never the rest.
  • Access expires after one hour and is never stored. This browser only remembers your name and email so you can reconnect in one click; you can disconnect at any time.

How to use “Merge Images”

  1. Add the photos you want to combine.
  2. Pick the layout: adaptive (every photo whole, with its own shape), irregular, grid, row or column.
  3. On the collage, drag each photo to reframe it or drop it on another one to swap them; once one is selected, adjust its zoom.
  4. Adjust the spacing, corners and background, click “Merge images” and download the collage.

A collage you edit on the image itself

The preview is the editor: each photo is dragged inside its space to choose which part shows and zoomed in with its own control, and if it is dropped on another cell the two swap places. The adaptive layout arranges the photos in justified rows without cropping any of them, with as many rows as needed to get close to the chosen shape. In the irregular layout the cells have different sizes, like a magazine page, and each photo goes to the cell whose shape is closest to its own: portrait photos to tall cells and landscape ones to wide cells. No photo is enlarged beyond its original size at 1× zoom, and if the result went over the maximum a browser can draw (about 16.7 million pixels) it is scaled down as a whole. Photos are processed one at a time and never leave your device.

Are my files uploaded?

No. ShiftAny Images processes your images directly on your device: this tool runs in your browser and never sends your files to any server.

Frequently asked questions

How do I put two photos side by side?

Add both and pick “Row”: they end up the same height and uncropped. “Adaptive” with the landscape shape gives the same result; if you would rather they take up exactly the same space, use “Grid” with two columns and reframe each one by dragging it.

How do I move photos around?

Drag a photo on the collage and drop it on another one: they swap places. Without a mouse, select the photo with the Tab key and use “Move earlier” or “Move later”.

What is the irregular layout?

A mosaic whose cells are not all the same size, like a magazine page. Each photo is placed in the cell whose shape is closest to its own and cropped to fill it; drag it to choose which part shows. “Another layout” tries a different arrangement.

How many photos can I merge?

Two or more. There is no fixed maximum, but with many large photos the collage is scaled down to stay within what the browser can draw: for walls of dozens of photos, the grid makes better use of the space.
