- Your files travel straight between Google and your browser. They never touch a server of ours, because we don’t have any.
- Processing runs on your device, exactly as it does with a file from your computer.
- The app can only access the files you pick and the ones it saves to your Drive. Never the rest.
- Access expires after one hour and is never stored. This browser only remembers your name and email so you can reconnect in one click; you can disconnect at any time.

How to use “YouTube Thumbnail”
- Add the image or screenshot you want as the cover.
- Choose the framing (“Fill and crop” is the usual choice) and adjust the position in the preview.
- Click “Create image”: the quality adjusts itself so the file never exceeds 2 MB.
- Download the JPG and upload it in YouTube Studio.
1280 × 720 and under 2 MB, guaranteed
YouTube recommends 1280 × 720 px (16:9) thumbnails and rejects files of 2 MB or more. The image is saved as a JPG at the quality you choose; if the result would reach 2 MB, the highest quality that stays under the limit is found automatically (a binary search between your quality and 40), so you never hit the upload error. In practice, a 1280 × 720 JPG thumbnail weighs between 150 and 600 KB.
Are my files uploaded?
No. ShiftAny Images processes your images directly on your device: this tool runs in your browser and never sends your files to any server.
Frequently asked questions
Why JPG and not PNG?
A 1280 × 720 PNG of a photo usually goes over 2 MB, YouTube’s maximum. A high-quality JPG looks the same and weighs a fraction of it.
Will it look good on phones?
Thumbnails are shown very small on phones: use little text, large and high-contrast. Check the scaled-down preview before downloading.
Can I add my logo or channel name?
Yes: once the thumbnail is made, run it through “Add Watermark” to place your logo or text in a corner.
