- Your files travel straight between Google and your browser. They never touch a server of ours, because we don’t have any.
- Processing runs on your device, exactly as it does with a file from your computer.
- The app can only access the files you pick and the ones it saves to your Drive. Never the rest.
- Access expires after one hour and is never stored. This browser only remembers your name and email so you can reconnect in one click; you can disconnect at any time.

What a photo gains, and does not, as a PNG
PNG is a lossless format: it stores exactly the pixels of your JPG and, from then on, you can edit and save it as many times as you like without new artifacts appearing. What it does not do is bring back the detail the JPG already lost when it was compressed, or create transparency: the background stays as it is in the photo. The file will be much larger (3 to 10 times) because PNG is not designed for photos.
Are my files uploaded?
No. ShiftAny Images processes your images directly on your device: this tool runs in your browser and never sends your files to any server.
Frequently asked questions
Does quality improve when converting to PNG?
No. The JPG’s quality is kept exactly, with no added loss, but what the JPG already lost does not come back.
Why is the PNG so much larger?
Because it stores every pixel without lossy compression. For photos, JPG or WebP are much lighter; use PNG if you are going to edit the image or an app requires it.
Will it have a transparent background?
No: a JPG has no transparency, so the PNG keeps the same background.
