Convert Base64 to an image for free

Paste a Data URI or Base64 text, check the image it contains and download it as PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF or SVG according to its real format.

Your images never leave your device. 100% local processing in your browser, with nothing uploaded to any server.

A value copied from CSS (url("data:…")) or HTML (src="data:…") works too.

How to use “Base64 to Image”

  1. Paste the Data URI (data:image/…;base64,…) or the Base64 text into the box.
  2. Check the preview, the detected format and the dimensions.
  3. Click “Download” to save the image with the right extension.

The format comes from the data, not the label

The text is decoded in your browser and the tool identifies the format from the byte signature: if a Data URI says image/png but holds a JPG, it downloads as a JPG and tells you so. It accepts Base64 with or without the data: prefix, the URL-safe variant (with - and _), line breaks, a value copied from CSS or HTML, and SVGs encoded as text. It recognizes PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, SVG, AVIF, HEIC, BMP and ICO.

Are my files uploaded?

No. ShiftAny Images processes your images directly on your device: this tool runs in your browser and never sends your files to any server.

Frequently asked questions

Why does it say the Base64 is not valid?

Usually part of the text was lost when copying it (long Data URIs are easily cut off) or a character that does not belong to Base64 slipped in. Copy it again in full, from data: to the end.

Can I decode Base64 that is not an image?

This tool only downloads images: if the data is of another type, such as a PDF or text, it tells you the format is not recognized.

How do I convert an image to Base64?

With “Image to Base64”: add the image and copy the Data URI or the snippet for HTML, CSS or Markdown.
